Excellent After Care Service
This GMT-master is a reference 16750, a watch in the models timeline that many consider a transitional piece. Fitted somewhere between the 1675 and the 16760 it is the last one of its kind, all models after it being baptised as GMT-master 2. It takes a keen eye to spot the differences compared to the 1675 but giveaways include a quickset date, a new caliber 3075 vibrating at a faster rate of 28800A/h, and a change in the stacking of the hands where the hour hand was placed above the GMT hand instead of the other way around.
This specific timepiece was produced in 1979 and purchased in 1981, making it one of the very first of its kind. Early models are identified by a matte dial as well as the lack of the white gold indices around the lume and are considered the rarer and hence more desirable version. Also, a classic in the repertoire of vintage Rolex is the size of the 12 o clock marker, missing the tip of the crown ever so slightly. What really sets this piece apart though is the story it wears. Because this watch spent its former life on the wrist of an active surfer, it has probably clocked in more hours on the beach than you ever will. That means the lume has tanned incredibly, sporting an even patina the colour of Ivory.
It has been serviced recently by Rolex and was fitted with a factory new bezel and case back. It is accompanied by an original Box, as well as matching punched papers, wallet, and even the receipts of the service. Any completionist will also be happy to know that the original bezel (which will win the prize among your friends for "most faded bezel"), and case back have been saved and are included.
