The Rolex Cellini Prince 5440 offers a very different expression of Rolex watchmaking. Its rectangular case, carefully structured dial and manually wound movement draw inspiration from the original Rolex Prince watches of the 1920s and 1930s.
Produced in 2006, this reference 5440/8 is crafted from 18ct yellow gold and features a matching gold dial beneath a sapphire crystal. The rectangular case measures approximately 28mm across, giving the watch an elegant presence that remains comfortable and well balanced on the wrist.
Inside is the Rolex calibre 7040, a manually wound mechanical movement with an approximately 70-hour power reserve. The movement can be viewed through the sapphire display caseback, an unusual and particularly attractive detail within the wider Rolex collection.
The watch is fitted to a leather strap with a yellow-gold clasp. Its restrained proportions and Art Deco-influenced design make it a strong choice for collectors looking beyond Rolex’s better-known Oyster models.
This Rolex Cellini Prince 5440 is presented in very good condition, showing only light signs consistent with careful wear. Please refer closely to the photographs, which form part of the condition description.
The watch comes complete with its original Rolex box and original papers.
