Ask Us to Source OneThe Planet Ocean GMT Big Blue reference 215.92.46.22.03.001 was introduced at Baselworld 2017 as one of the most technically distinctive models within Omega’s Seamaster Planet Ocean collection.
Built around a solid blue ceramic case, it brought together professional dive-watch construction, a travel-focused GMT function, and Omega’s advanced material expertise in a single, highly recognisable reference.
The 45.5mm case gives the Planet Ocean GMT Big Blue a strong presence on the wrist, while its blue ceramic construction offers excellent scratch resistance, colour stability and corrosion resistance.
Ceramic has become increasingly important in modern watchmaking because it is hardwearing, hypoallergenic, chemically inert and non-magnetic, making it particularly well-suited to a professional sports watch.
The case also includes a helium escape valve, 600-metre water resistance, and a transparent sapphire caseback.
The unidirectional rotating bezel is produced in blue ceramic and uses Omega’s patented Liquidmetal technology for the diving scale. The first 15 minutes are highlighted in orange rubber, a practical detail that also gives reference 215.92.46.22.03.001 its distinctive blue-and-orange identity.
This colour combination continues across the dial and strap, giving the watch a cohesive design language that is immediately recognisable within the Planet Ocean line.
The mirror-polished blue dial is fitted with white gold hands and applied indices, all filled with Super-LumiNova for strong legibility in low light.
The orange GMT hand allows the wearer to track a second time zone, making the Planet Ocean GMT Big Blue useful for travel while retaining the core functionality expected of a serious dive watch.
The date window is neatly integrated at 3 o’clock.
Inside the watch is Omega’s in-house Co-Axial Master Chronometer calibre 8906. This self-winding movement is METAS certified and resistant to magnetic fields up to 15,000 gauss without relying on a traditional Faraday cage.
It features a co-axial escapement, free sprung balance with silicon balance spring, twin barrels mounted in series and automatic winding in both directions. Power reserve is approximately 60 hours.
The movement is finished with a rhodium-plated rotor and bridges decorated with arabesque Geneva waves, visible through the sapphire crystal caseback.
The use of sapphire crystal also reflects Omega’s focus on durability and clarity, offering high scratch resistance and anti-reflective treatment for improved visibility.
This example of the Planet Ocean GMT Big Blue, reference 215.92.46.22.03.001, dates to 2021 and is offered as a full set with box, warranty cards, and accompanying accessories.
The original factory stickers remain in place, supporting its unused condition.
The model is now discontinued, with a last known retail price of £11,600 in 2025, making this a strong opportunity to acquire one of Omega’s most recognisable ceramic GMT dive watches.
The Planet Ocean GMT Big Blue remains a compelling choice for collectors who want a modern Omega with technical substance, distinctive colour, strong wrist presence and genuine everyday functionality.
