First introduced in 1969, the reference 166.056 – 168.042 with its 36 mm solid gold tonneau case is exemplary of the design language that represented Omega in the 1970s. Powering it is the automatic calibre 1001 which features a quick set date and a hacking seconds hand.

Known for their accuracy every constellation is fitted with a stamp on the caseback showing an observatory and the stars above. This officially certified chronometer is housed in an 18k solid god case as well as a solid gold dial. This rarity in the dial is identified by the OM inscription on the bottom of the dial which stands for Or Massif, French for solid gold.

Next to the unique case shape this constellation comes from factory without the star on the dial. The feature usually identified with the product line is one that Omega for sake of experimentation has at times omitted, as is the case with this example. This watch is a true blast from the past and showcases the 1970s from their best and loudest side.
