Design Highlights:
- Obverse (Front): Depicts a Native American profile in a traditional war bonnet, symbolizing leadership and unity. The design is encircled by 13 stars, with the inscription “LIBERTY” and the year “1908.”
- Reverse (Back): A majestic eagle perched on olive branches, representing peace and strength. The mottoes “IN GOD WE TRUST” and “E PLURIBUS UNUM” are prominently displayed.
General Description and Condition: The Coin is sold in general circulated condition with marks and signs of wear throughout.
The Native American chief is well-preserved. The facial features, the headdress’s feathers, and the texture around the headdress are still clearly visible with marks round this area appropriate to it’s age.
The date is sharp, with clean and clear numerals with little wear to this area.
The inscription “LIBERTY” at the top of the coin and the stars around the edge are all intact and legible, but there is slight softening in certain parts of the relief.
There are scuff marks and slight surface abrasions on the higher points of the design, such as the headdress, the chief’s profile, and around the “LIBERTY” text. There are no deep gouges, suggesting general circulation wear.
Eagle Design: The details of the eagle, especially the wings, feathers, and body, remain well-defined. Some minor flattening might be visible on the highest points of the wings and head, indicating slight wear from circulation.
The words “UNITED STATES OF AMERICA,” “IN GOD WE TRUST,” “E PLURIBUS UNUM,” and the denomination “2 1/2 DOLLARS” are all legible.
There might be a slight softening of these letters due to circulation, especially toward the edges, but they are not excessively worn.
There is one notable mark that I have to capture to the best of my ability in photos on the left hand side of the coin.
Additionally there are very light abrasions and scuff marks across the reverse, mostly noticeable on the raised parts, such as the eagle’s body and the inscriptions.
The reeded edge: Seems in good condition with some nicks from general use I have highighted the most notable one in one of the photos.
