Obverse (Front):

The obverse side of this coin features the right-facing profile of King Philip V of Spain. Surrounding the portrait is the inscription “PHILIP • V • D • G • HISPAN • ET IND • REX”, which translates to “Philip V, by the grace of God, King of Spain and the Indies.” At the bottom of the coin is the date, “1736”, marking the year of minting.

Reverse (Back):

The reverse features the crowned Spanish coat of arms, which includes the castles of Castile and the lions of León, symbolizing the union of these Spanish kingdoms. The shield also includes the arms of Granada, Navarre, and Aragon, as well as the central Bourbon shield. Above the coat of arms is the inscription “SAPIENTIA • TIMOR • DOMINI” (Wisdom and the fear of the Lord). Below the arms, you can find the mintmark “MF”, signifying the Mexico City Mint.

The design is ornate, with surrounding laurels and detailed engravings, showcasing the craftsmanship of the time.

Edge:

• Reverse: The coat of arms remains clearly defined, though some light surface abrasions can be observed around the shield and outer inscriptions. A few small dings are present near the rim.

• Edge: The reeded edge has some minor dents.
